Day 12 | Mile 139.7 – 151.8

The desert is coming alive with more and more blooms every day! The trail wound around ridges, down into small waterless valleys and around private off-grid homes.

Weather in the San Jacinto Mountains is not very favorable for hikers this weekend! Tom and I came down out of the mountains to Palm Springs, CA to wait out the snowstorm. Unfortunately, the next leg of my hike is likely going to get over a foot of snow, which may make it impassable to hikers.

There’s a local expert, who hikes/mountaineers the area regularly, and has so far been cautioning hikers to use mountaineering equipment if they are looking to pass through this section. If you’d like to read or watch his trail reports, you can find them here: https://sanjacjon.com.
