Mile 2.7 – 15
Today was a long day with no water sources until mile 20, which meant I had to carry over 10 lbs of water as I set out on my hike.
But the weather was perfect!
I was able to dry everything out and found the perfect campsite nestled between some trees.
Ronni found me drying out my gear, and spread hers alongside. We sat eating some snacks and chatting. Today is Ronni’s birthday, so she treated herself to a bagful of macadamias nuts. Yum!
I camped at the bottom of a steep climb, at Hauser Creek. And then night falls… and the mountain lions come out. I spent the night clutching my trekking pole in one hand (as a weapon) and my emergency whistle in the other. Letโs just say that Iโm pretty tired at this point.
