Mile 22.8 – 39.3

Miller Peak Wilderness
When we woke up in the Miller Peak Wilderness, we found only mild condensation on our tent! We were grateful we had chosen to go with a double-walled tent (net body + rain fly) as opposed to a single-walled tent (one piece) because they handle condensation better.
Typically when I wake up with a wet tent, I like to carry it on top of my backpack until I have a chance to stop and dry it out. Then I’ll pack it away like normal.
The day started out cool, but quickly warmed up! Water was plentiful due to the recent rainfall, and we crossed small streams throughout the day. This area of the trail was obviously frequented by cattle, and dodging their patties is now something at which we have achieved pro status.

Throughout Miller Peak Wilderness, the trail could be difficult to follow at times, along rocky washes and through tall grasses. We made camp late, in the dark, on the only barren flat ground we could find.
