A long fireworks show on the ICW.

Day 3 | Final Voyage of M/Y Zinful

Our third day moving Zinful was a long, slow day. We cruised under bridge after bridge, only some of which we could fit under while the bridges were closed. For the closed bridges that we couldn’t fit under, we had to time our arrival with the scheduled bridge opening times. The times were usually every thirty minutes on the hour and half hour or on the quarter hour and three quarter hour. It didn’t take us long to find our rhythm and we were able to time our arrival with just a few minutes to spare for most of the bridge openings.

After a 45.5 nm day, we ended at Palm Beach at a crowded and largely unprotected anchorage, but there weren’t a lot of great options in this area. It wasn’t long after we dropped anchor that we realized it hadn’t held, so we pulled it back up to reset it. Most unfortunately, one of the flukes had bent in a 90ยฐ angle – meaning we essentially had only half an anchor. With the strong current in that area and the close proximity of other anchored boats, it was a long, restless night.

After dark, we enjoyed a lengthy and spectacular fireworks show over the water!
