Having finished the flat section, it’s time to climb! And after reaching the top, where is there to go but down? At the bottom of the descent, there was a beautiful water source, flowing through a blue-grey bed where all around it remained the tan of the SoCal desert.
After climbing back up, I was rewarded a million times with millions of yellow, purple, and white flowers carpeting the mountainsides for miles and miles.
Later in the day, I came upon trail magic! A trail angel maintains an area with chairs and umbrellas, and it was stocked with water, soda, cookies, chips, oranges, books, games, and more! The TA had both a donation box and a Venmo code, so hikers are able to thank them for their generosity in the middle of nowhere. I enjoyed a refreshing coke, topped off my water, and continued my beautiful day.
