I hiked the first nine miles to a water cache in the cool morning air, and arrived just as it was warming up. I breaked for about an hour before Pit Stop joined me, and we continued to relax in the shade of Joshua trees. Reluctantly, I gathered my things and began the lengthy climb over the next mountain.
Nearing the end of my day, I looked over and saw Ogre climbing his way up switchbacks! I checked to see if I had service, and I did! Tom and I FaceTimed as he tried to spot me atop the mountain. I unfolded my bright yellow and silver sleeping pad and waved it around, hoping it would help him, but alas I was too far away.
Approaching the campsite, I saw where Tom had set up a “T” out of sticks to help us find him. Bianca and Ollie soon joined us, and were also welcomed with chilled sodas, as I was. Tom told us that he had stopped at a store and would be making us bean tostadas with all the fixin’s, AND ice cream bars for dessert. Five tostadas (for me) and an ice cream later, it started getting cold and we said goodnight.
