Ollie, Bianca & I were pleased with last night’s campsite we had chosen! The night hadn’t been too cold, our tents and bags were dry, and it was a beautiful day.
We hiked through the woods, admiring beautiful wind-twisted trees and wondering how old some of them were. The ever-present lizards of the desert have been replaced with adorable striped chipmunks, and the occasional marmot.
We removed our shoes and socks to cross several creeks, one of which had many beautiful Golden Trout!
We wanted to camp just after the Tyndall Creek crossing, because it was the closest dry spot to a huge climb we had the next day, and also because we did not want to cross that creek first thing in the morning, which would’ve resulted in utterly cold, wet shoes and feet for the climb. The creek was high when we reached it, but we scouted upstream until Ollie found a safer place to cross.
Our first priority at camp was trying to dry out our shoes!
