Day 57 | Mile 1471.1 – 1485.8

Mountain Pride blooms

Departing from Ash Camp early in the morning to beat the heat (it’s been in the mid-90’s), I felt refreshed.

Leaving the creeks behind, I hiked through moss and fern covered trees. The trail was obvious and mostly unobstructed, there were few mosquitos, no snow, and no logging – it’s the exact sort of nature hike I like!

Brightly colored blooms and fungi stood out among the heavy greens and browns of the old forest. And I even saw a new snake – the California Mountain Kingsnake!
