Days 5-16 | Final Voyage of M/Y Zinful

What we thought would be our last night on Zinful, turned out to be only night 7 out of 18!!! Wow, we had not seen that coming and we were unprepared for such a long stay. We had made arrangements with a DIY boat yard in Fort Pierce to be hauled out of the water after our arrival, so the boat could be set “on the hard” for several months before we head out on the Loop.

When we called the boat yard the following Monday morning, we were told we could be hauled out… if we had an insurance policy with a $500,000 liability minimum. Well, that was news to us, and hadn’t been brought up in previous conversations with the yard, and unfortunately we didn’t know to specifically ask.

Fast forward to Thursday evening, and we now have a policy that meets the yard’s requirements! We eagerly call the yard the following morning, and are disheartened to learn that it won’t be until early the following week when we can be hauled out. We call again Monday afternoon, to learn that they’re not sure when we’ll be hauled out. Thursday afternoon, we call again, and are told hopefully the following day!

At 5:23 PM Friday evening, we cruised into the boat yard’s slip and tied off – they would haul us out at 9 AM the following morning. Exhausted, 12 days after our arrival, we made our way two hours home.
