Day 60: Zero #12
All day in bed resting, and pizza delivery.
Day 61: Zero #13
More meds, and rest, and soaking in the tub. Then enchiladas!
Day 62: Zero #14
My sickness is going away, but my ankle is still swollen. Not sure if I should try and get back on the trail tomorrow.
Unfortunately in this section, the only way out is by foot or by helicopter.
Day 63: Zero #15
No improvement on my ankle. Next available doctor appointment in this town is in a week. Feeling incredibly frustrated.
Day 64: Zero #16
After 5 days holed up in a hotel, Iโve decided to continue resting my ankle somewhere more affordable. Heading out tomorrow.
And this is how it endsโฆ this year.
Finally got in to see a specialist and the verdict is I have a chopart sprain and possible stress fracture (doc said he didnโt see one on the x-ray, but he didnโt want to run up a bill doing more imaging since the treatment wouldnโt change). Estimated 3 more months before I can resume my regular activities. I did score a temporary disabled parking hang tag.
Incredibly frustrating because I took it so slowly and carefully this year, but I guess my feet are just one of the few things I need that I canโt carry safely in my backpack.
โฆto be continued, next year!
