‘89 Carver Motor Yacht

The boat we chose as our liveaboard for our year-long Great Loop adventure is a 1989 Carver Santego 38 motor yacht. The Santego, named “Swamp Puppy” was re-powered with twin Yanmar diesel engines, and also has a diesel generator. We anticipate our average cruising speed to be a blistering 8 knots, or 9.2 mph.

Swamp Puppy isn’t quite ready to hit the water, and is currently “on the hard” as we take a break from boat projects and the heat of the summer. We’ll resume work on it this Fall, and then we’ll begin our cruise of the Loop!
